new to the game

What TimmyT offered to do right there folks proves the goodness of heart of TimmyT and many others like minded shark fishermen on this site both young and old and that sets us apart from the rest.We need more good men like TimmyT. Timmyt just offererd to take a complete newcomer/stranger to fish in his backyard to catch Hammers something I have seen very few do in the past.Reaching out to other shark fishermen teaching them the ropes and taking them fishing to good spots is one of the Key goals of the SOUTH FLORIDA SHARK CLUB and of this site. Folks I want to say to you that we need more people like TimmyT with caring and giving hearts willing to extend a hand to fellow fishermen. We get so caught up in our own lives in the daily ratrace that we forget to think of others and there needs.Modern day society tends to make us callous and hardened so it is very refreshing to see someone like Timmy reaching out to help a new guy out. This is the way we should all be.
In past years beginning on another site that I will not mention directly there were shark fishermen that competed in the Big Hammer Challenge and the Shorebound tourney who were blessed to live in the most Hammerhead infested waters of Palm Beach all the way north to Ft Pierce/Sebastian areas and what I saw out of those fishermen who usually won the Shorebound and the BHC was Arrogance, cockiness, complete secrecy and a complete unwillingness to share techniques, methods ,baits suggestions, nothing at all was suggested or given during tournaments or at any other time.I understand that anyone fishing a tournament wants to win and therefore will not share winning information but outside of tournament time I saw the same arrogance out of those fishermen treating others on that site with the same attitude and indifference. To me it was sad to watch because I was always willing to share knowledge, techniques and spots gained over decades next to some of the best shark fishermen in the club, and in Florida men like JD Hammer and Rene de Dios.It was angered when I saw those same cocky arrogant shark fishermen bash other shark fishermen that they saw fishing in there nieghborhood beaches.Threats were made ,vehicles were vandalized and beach parking lots marked for ownership. The American spirit was trampled by these hooligans discuised as shark fishermen.Today I see the same groups continue there ignorant cocky self serving ways on that other site and Moderators and Administrators who should set the course straight for the betterment of the website stand by and do absolutely nothing or say anything to those involved.Hopefully in the future those running that site will take notice and set attitudes correct or continue to see those Shark Fishing Report forums continue to deteriorate to nothingness. As residents and non residents make use of Floridas lovely beaches we all need to understand that is is part of our natural resources to be used by all and not claimed by locals. The local fishermen and there attitudes to me seemed un-American, extremely childish, selfish and ill concieved.I dealt with this and saw it turn ugly in some Tournaments and eventually contributed to the downfall of the Shorebound Tourney. We continued to grow while there tournament disappeared in the muck and strife.
We make it point to welcome newcomers to this sport even though I know we need to do a better job of welcoming new users on the site ,I will continue to be a strong voice for welcoming others not shunning them away.Where there is a need we will reach out ;we will always stride to reach out to those coming to Florida to shark fish and those coming to fish the east coast beaches where we spend most of our shark fishing time .This is one of primary goals and will continue to be forever. We are not perfect but we stride to be good caring and Christain fishermen that will always be willing to lend a helping hand.
